Did my boyfriend break up with me? PLZ HELP?

I'm in a relation with a guy who's also my classmate, we've been together for 6 months, and we love each other. We had the final exams a couple of days ago, we were studying together, and he said that when we finish the finals he will be free and he won't see me anymore (it was supposed to be a joke), so I went with the flaw and said this too (as a joke), and we kept on repeating it, and laughing. We finished the finals on Friday, and he hasn't called me since that day. I'm so worried that what he said was true but didn't want to hurt my feelings so he made it as a joke. Should I call him? I feel if I call him he will think that I can't live without him and can't take the joke. HELP. Should I call him??? He's the dominant one shouldn't he call and take the initiative? or does that only apply to sex? I don't know what to do it's my first gay relationship
