Why do people pick on Fundamentalists?

In school, I was always scoffed at, ignored, and insulted. You have to accept gays, blacks, Catholics, Jehovahs Witnesses, Lutherans, Muslims, Jews, Hindus, Bi's Asians, And every other group as long as they are not religious fundamentalists. I've been called a sadist, biggot, and self righteous. What is wrong with people in this world?
