Why do Democrats scoff at the idea of being Socialists, and then say we need Socialism in the USA?

NO Democrat (or anyone else) can cite even one way Democrat policy differs from Socialists' - which is of course WHY all Democrats deny having anything whatsoever in common with socialists.
